How to easily create a functional development server for a PrestaShop store?

While talking with many agencies or web professionals, we realized that a problem came up very often: the deployment of a functional development server to be able to work in security, without jeopardizing the production version, is often tedious, expensive and the expected result does not fully meet their expectations.

Indeed, an ideal pre-production server would be an exact and functional copy of the production one and on which all possible tests could be performed as if you were actually on the online shop. But that's not all, it would be necessary to have a real dashboard from which you could make backups at different stages of the work, create secure and personalized access to allow different people to intervene, follow the different modifications made and be able to go back if necessary.

We therefore began to develop a service that would fully meet their expectations. That's how Parachute was born.

Parachute

What is Parachute?

Parachute is a service for deploying staging environments on demand. For the moment it is only available for the PrestaShop CMS but it has the ambition to be compatible with any kind of web environment. It provides you with a real space from which you can manage your development servers very simply: creation of secure access, generation of backups, monitoring of changes and creation of commits through Git, possibility to restore the server to a previous state,... Once your work is validated, you download only the modified files and database changes necessary for releasing in complete confidence.

Everything has been thought of to make Parachute as easy and quick to use as possible. The service is of course aimed at agencies and web professionals, but also at any e-merchant, even if they do not have the technical skills.

How does Parachute work in practice?

How does Parachute work

The use of Parachute consists of 4 main steps:

  1. You install the Parachute module on your PrestaShop
  2. You start the cloning of your shop in 1 click through the module
  3. Once the server is created, you can work on it or create secure access for anyone who needs to make changes to your shop (development, updates, module/theme installation, technical support, setting up a marketing campaign, etc...). At any time, you can make backups or use Git to create commits, all directly from your Parachute dashboard.
  4. After validation of the work done and once all your tests are ended, you download the files and database entries modified in order to release them.

How does Parachute cost?

Parachute works by subscription. Different frequencies are available: monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or yearly. For a given frequency, you can choose between 4 plans: S to XL. Depending on the size of your plan, your development server will have different technical specifications (storage space, RAM, processor type). To find out more, do not hesitate to consult the details of our plans on our parachute.sh website.

It is also possible to test Parachute for 3 days free of charge, without obligation of subscription and without limitation of functionalities.

Parachute is without commitment, you can unsubscribe at any time very easily from your dashboard.
